Oat Milk Matcha Latte – Carmy

Sweet, creamy, and flavorful, this oat milk matcha latte comes together in a few simple steps. It comes together in less than 5 minutes! It’s a delicious way to start off your day.

I love how easy it is to make a matcha oat milk latte at home. You don’t need any fancy equipment, and it comes together in a jiffy. Some days when I’m feeling fancy (or cold lol), I’ll bust out my milk frother, but most days, an iced oat milk matcha latte gets the job done since it’s quick, easy, and still tasty AF.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • It’s easy to make! You can whip this matcha latte with oat milk up in a few short minutes. Don’t have a matcha whisk? No problem. Use a regular whisk!
  • It’s budget-friendly! Buying a matcha latte every time you go out and swapping it for oat milk is not an inexpensive drink.
  • It’s dairy-free, vegan-friendly, and gluten-free for anyone unable to enjoy a regular matcha latte.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients needed to make oat milk matcha latte.
  • oat milk — check out my homemade oat milk recipe, or you can use store-bought oat milk.
  • maple syrup — to sweeten the drink. You can also use your sweetener of choice. Make sure you are using real pure maple syrup and not pancake syrup.
  • matcha — I use ceremonial for my matcha lattes. Try to use the best quality matcha you can find. Matcha can be pricey, but since you don’t use a ton per drink, the costs evens out. If you are able to splurge a bit, I love Ippodo Tea, but I’ve been hit by duties fees, and the costs adds up.
  • ice — you can even make it with my Matcha Ice Cubes for more matcha flavor! Just swap for coconut condensed milk instead to keep it dairy-free!
  • filtered water — my Brtia and I are practically best friends.

Recipe Tips and Notes

  • If you have an opened container of matcha, make sure you store it correctly to keep it fresh. Store your matcha at room temperature or in the fridge if you prefer. If you are storing your matcha in the fridge, be sure to bring the matcha to room temperature before using it.
  • Don’t use boiling water for the matcha, as it can lead to the matcha becoming bitter.
  • You can add more matcha for a more intense matcha flavor.
  • Add more maple syrup if you’d like a sweeter latte.

Is there caffeine in matcha?

Matcha has more caffeine than regular brewed green tea but less than coffee and black tea.

What is matcha?

Matcha is green tea that has been finely ground up into a powder.

Do I need a bamboo whisk?

I used a mini whisk that I got for a couple of bucks at a grocery store when I didn’t have a bamboo whisk. You can also add it to a mason jar and shake it to combine instead of whisking.

Why is my matcha yellow?

If your matcha has a yellowish or brownish color to it, this usually indicates that mature leaves were used to make your matcha, making it a lower-quality matcha. This leads to your matcha tasting more bitter.
