If you’re a fan of Starbucks’ iced london fog tea latte, then you need to make this recipe at home. All you need are a few simple ingredients, and you can make this iced london fog for a fraction of the price.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients needed to make iced london fog.
  • earl grey tea — you can use loose leaf or a bag. I recommend using good-quality tea as some tea bags do not use whole tea leaves but use small broken leaves and tea dust.
  • lavender — make sure to get culinary-grade lavender. I’m quite lucky that there are a ton of lavender farms in Ontario, and I purchased mine at this shop in Dundas. You can also find it on Amazon.
  • vanilla — I recommend using real vanilla extract and not artificial extract for the best flavor.
  • syrup — you can use regular vanilla syrup or add additional lavender flavor by using lavender syrup.
  • milk — you can use any type of milk you prefer.
  • ice — to make the iced tea latte cold!

How to Make Iced London Fog

  • In a heat-safe measuring cup or cup, steep the earl grey tea with the lavender buds, syrup, and vanilla extract. Let it steep for 2 to 3 minutes, depending on how strong you’d like the latte to be.
  • Chill the tea for 10 minutes to ensure your tea latte stays cold.
  • Meanwhile, use a milk frother to froth your milk if you desire. I use my trusty smeg.

  • To a glass, add the chilled tea along with ice.
  • Top the tea off with milk. Stir to combine. Enjoy immediately.

Recipe Tips and Notes

  • You can add a pinch of brown sugar to the steeping tea for a deeper sweet flavor, as the molasses will give you some caramel notes.
  • You can simply froth your milk or just add the milk directly to the tea if you prefer.
  • Lavender buds can taste pretty strong, so try not to add too much at once if it’s your first time using lavender.
  • Steep the tea longer for a stronger black tea flavor.

Does iced london fog have caffeine in it?

Yes, iced london fog generally contains caffeine due to the black tea. Alternatively, you can use decaffeinated Earl Grey tea for a decaffeinated london fog.

Can I make this ahead of time?

You can steep the tea and chill it in the fridge in an airtight mason jar a day or two ahead of time if you’d like. Remove the tea bags and lavender buds as you do not want to flavor to be too concentrated.

  • 1 bag earl grey tea
  • ½ tsp culinary-grade dried lavender
  • 2 tbsp syrup, vanilla or lavender syrup
  • ½-1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup hot water
  • ½ cup milk, dairy or non-dairy
  • ice

Instructions

  • In a heat-safe measuring cup or cup, steep the earl grey tea with the lavender buds, syrup, and vanilla extract. Let it steep for 2 to 3 minutes, depending on how strong you’d like the latte to be.

  • Chill the tea for 10 minutes to ensure your tea latte stays cold. Meanwhile, use a milk frother to froth your milk if you desire.
