Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • It’s pretty easy to make! The chicken and broccoli comes together quickly in one skillet so cleaning up is also a breeze. It also takes much less time to make than to run out to get takeout!
  • It’s very easy to customize this recipe! Not a fan of peas? Add frozen corn or carrots instead. Not a fan of sriracha? Skip it. Don’t want to serve it over rice? Try lettuce cups or stir fried noodles. This recipe is based on my ground beef stir fry, so you can see how there are so many ways you can change up the ingredients.
  • It’s perfect for a busy weeknight dinner or as a meal prep! It keeps well in the fridge and reheats wonderfully.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients needed to make honey sriracha ground chicken and broccoli.
  • chicken broth — I prefer low-sodium chicken broth, but you can use regular if it’s what you have on hand. Vegetable broth is also a great alternative.
  • cornstarch — this will help thicken the sauce. You can also use potato starch.
  • soy sauce — use low sodium soy sauce.
  • mirin mirin is a Japanese sweet rice wine, if you are unable to find it, you can try rice vinegar with extra honey
  • honey — for some sweetness.
  • sesame oil — I use pure sesame oil to add a nice nutty flavor to the sauce.
  • sriracha — the amount of sriracha I use isn’t enough to make this a super spicy stir fry. It’s just enough that there’s a bit of extra flavor. You can add more sriracha or serve it with some extra drizzled on top if you’d like for it to be spicier.
  • garlic powder & onion powder — for extra flavor.
  • oil — you can use any neutral oil to cook the broccoli and ground chicken in. I like using olive oil or avocado oil.
  • broccoli florets — I usually buy two broccoli crowns and cut them into florets and it’ll yield 4 cups, give or take.
  • green onions — I like the mild onion flavor and it takes less time to cook than regular onions.
  • frozen peas — I use frozen peas but you can use a different frozen vegetable if you prefer. You can also use spinach instead!

Recipe Tips and Notes

  • The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
  • I use a nonstick skillet, so I don’t need much oil to cook the ground chicken and broccoli. However, if you’re using a stainless steel skillet, you might need more oil.
  • Ground chicken cooks up pretty quickly, so make sure not to cook it through entirely before adding in the green onions and sauce or it’ll dry out as the sauce simmers.
  • Make sure to cut the broccoli florets into even bite-size pieces so they cook evenly and mixes well into the ground chicken and sauce.

Make Ahead Tips

  • Meal prep: once cooled, store the honey sriracha chicken and broccoli in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge. You can also meal prep them by packing them with rice in individual containers. I love jasmine rice, purple rice, and coconut rice with this recipe.
  • Reheat: you can reheat leftovers in the microwave or by adding it to a skillet with a splash of broth and sauteing until warmed through.
