Grilled Pineapple – Carmy – Easy Healthy-ish Recipes

This grilled pineapple recipe is the easiest side dish or dessert for your next cook out! Coated in melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar, these pineapple rings are absolutely irresistible.

I’m obsessed and very much miss the roasted pineapple served tableside at Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse. So now that grilling season is in full swing, I decided to grill up some pineapple rings to satisfy the craving.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • The balance of different flavors really melds well together! You get caramelized sweetness from the brown sugar, the richness from the butter, the warmth from the cinnamon and nutmeg, and the tangy, sweetness from the pineapple itself. Each bite is seriously flavorful.
  • It’s easy to make! You simply mix together all the ingredients, make sure the pineapple rings are well coated, then quickly grill them up.
  • The smokiness from the grill adds a deep flavor to the pineapples that makes them absolutely irresistible. I love eating them hot off the grill!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients needed to make grilled pineapples.
  • butter — I use unsalted butter.
  • oil — I find that using just melted butter doesn’t work too well as the butter thickens a bit too much with the other ingredients. So the oil helps thin it out.
  • cinnamon & nutmeg — these two go hand in hand! It adds a sweet, warm flavor that pairs really well with the pineapple.
  • brown sugar — I much prefer brown sugar to white sugar as the molasses in brown sugar give it a deeper, more caramelized flavor.
  • pineapples — I like mine in rings but you can cut them however you’d like. Spears, chunks, and halves are a great alternative.

Recipe Tips and Notes

  • I prefer pineapple rings as they’re more versatile. They fit perfectly on top of your grilled burgers.
  • You can cut the pineapple rings as thin or thick as you prefer. However, the thinner they are, the more difficult they are to flip without breaking.
  • You can add a pinch of chili powder or Tajin seasoning for a little bit of heat.
  • You can use honey or maple syrup instead of brown sugar.
  • To save time, I usually just buy the cored pineapple at my local grocery store. If you want to cut your own pineapple, start by cutting off the top and bottom. This will give you a base to place the pineapple upright and start cutting the sides off before slicing them.

Storage Tips

  • Storage: once cooled, store the grilled pineapple rings in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge.
  • Reheat: I love reheating these pineapple rings in the air fryer! You can also reheat them in the microwave, oven, or grill. Heat until warmed throughout.
