This super simple Blueberry Vinaigrette only requires 5 simple ingredients! It’s a sweet dressing that is a household favourite! This homemade vinaigrette comes together in only a couple of minutes and brightens up any salad.
There’s nothing better than a homemade salad dressing! You’re able to make just what you need and you don’t end up with multiple half-emptied bottles taking up precious space in the fridge. This is an easy vinaigrette that I love to whip up whenever I have some leftover blueberries kicking around in my fridge.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- blueberries — always wash your fruit first. Here’s how I wash and store my blueberries before using.
- apple cider vinegar — you’ll need an acid to make a vinaigrette. I use apple cider vinegar for this recipe to add tang and flavour.
- maple syrup or honey — to sweeten
- salt — just a pinch. a little goes a long way.
- olive oil — for dressings, I recommend using a high-quality extra virgin olive oil for the best flavour.
How to Make a Blueberry Vinaigrette
- Add all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
- Store in an airtight container if you’re not using it immediately.
Subsitutions
- apple cider vinegar: if you do not have ACV, then try using red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar, or if you don’t have any of those, sherry vinegar.
- maple syrup: honey is a great alternative if you do not need this salad dressing to be plant-based/vegan. Agave can be used as well.
- olive oil: if you prefer to use a different neutral oil you have on hand, you are more than welcomed to do so.
What to Serve with this Blueberry Dressing
Here are some recipes you might like to pair with this strawberry dressing.
Storage Tips
- I recommend using the blueberry vinaigrette within the week.
- If it has set in the fridge, simply give it a stir or whisk a bit of olive oil in to loosen the dressing.
- Store the blueberry salad dressing in an airtight container such as a mason jar.
- Since this recipe doesn’t take a lot of effort to make, I do not recommend freezing it. However, if you have a ton of strawberries, you could freeze those instead and then use it for the dressing year round.
