These Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Green Beans are so easy to make. They come together quickly in the air fryer, making it the perfect side dish for busy weeknights.
To add more vegetables to our daily diet, we’ve been trying to incorporate more vegetable-only side dishes to dinner. However, I know that it’s not feasible to always have time to do so, so I’ve been working on side dishes that take little to no time to make. These air fryer green beans are so easy to make that they practically make themselves.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It’s a simple but delicious recipe that you can make in next to no time. It is so delicious despite the short ingredient list.
- It’s a hands-off recipe thanks to the air fryer. All you have to do is put the green beans into the air fryer and let it work its magic!
- If you’re on a specific diet or you’re making this for guests then this recipe is naturally gluten-free and is vegetarian-friendly. Swap out the parmesan for vegan parmesan to make it vegan-friendly.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- green beans — they might also be labelled as French beans or string beans.
- olive oil — or any neutral oil of your choice. Avocado oil works as well.
- garlic powder
- lemon
- parmesan — you can use shredded parmesan or petals/shaved.
How to Make Air Fryer Green Beans
- Wash and trim the green beans.
- Toss the green beans with olive oil and garlic powder.
- Transfer the green beans to the air fryer with a couple of slices of lemon.
- Air fryer for 8 to 9 minutes at 375°F. Shaking the basket at the halfway mark.
- While the green beans are still hot, transfer them to a serving dish and toss with some parmesan. Add a splash of lemon juice if you desire.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- To help the green beans cook evenly, I trim the green beans in a bunch so they’re the same size.
- While preparing the green beans, be sure they are fully dry before using them. If there is moisture, the olive oil and garlic powder won’t stick and the green beans will steam in the air fryer instead of crisping up.
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. If you have a smaller air fryer model, you may need to air fry in two batches.
My Recommendation
This is the air fryer I use. I love how large this air fryer is! It can fit a whole chicken or 2 bags of frozen French fries!
Make Ahead Tips
- Meal prep: once cooled, store the air fryer green beans in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge. You can portion them out to meal prep or just as a make ahead side dish.
- Reheat: simply add the green beans back to the air fryer and reheat at 350F for 2-3 minutes or until warmed through.
The stem end of the green beans tend to be tough so it is best to remove it. I cut off the top and bottom so it’s easier to get them to the same size.
If you are looking to make air fryer green beans from frozen, I would add a couple of extra minutes to the cooking time.
The model of air fryer I use does not require preheating. If your air fryer does, you should do so.
